A 4 car crash cost the leg of Rookie Keselowski

keselowski.jpgBrad Keselowski, in JR Motosports, has now an injured leg in a crash involving 4 cars in the middle of the California highway, featuring NASCAR’s Busch series race. Keselowski was driving for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

A helicopter took the rookie to the hospital so that any lasting damage can be ruled out and to have a detailed evaluation of the condition. The rookie has already been examined by the infield medical center. Though there is no more information, the track officials were quite positive on a complete recovery.

Keselowski’s crew chief, Wes Ward, said, “Three-wide there with a lapped car and we were on the bottom minding our own business. Can’t really say fault or whatever, it just happened, but just thank God the driver is OK. That’s all that matters”.

“He was conscious the whole time. As soon as he hit the wall and was down off the wall coming down the racetrack, he was conscious and alert.”

The accident was fired when the A.J. Allmendinger, J.J. Yeley and Eric McClure all bumped into each other on the turn one while jockeying for the lead position. The bounce set off Allmendinger cutting across the banking where he crashed into a Keselowski who in turn further ran hard into the wall.

The rookie’s car went up the wall and was airborne for a moment before bursting into flames and then sliding quite a few yards while balanced on the wall’s top. After which it crashed on the remnants of the wheel.

It took safety crews 28 minutes for the cleaning up of the debris and while they repaired the barrier into which keselowski had had the deadly crash.
