Greg Biffle wins at Kansas on day that Chase field implodes

nascar.jpgKANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) – there was just a 28 point difference in the standings between six of this year’s chase drivers when they took off, but against all expectations there were no thrilling or memorable moments noted witnessing drivers fighting each other for that extra point and at the end of the race six or more chase drivers managed 29th or worse.

The race was brought to an abrupt end as darkness covered the horizon faster than expected and under caution there was only one driver who was sure of his win at the Kansas Speedway this Sunday and that was Greg Biffle.

“Let me tell you what, he didn’t win the race,” said fifth-place finisher Jeff Gordon. “Clint Bowyer is the winner of this race in my opinion, no offense to Greg Biffle.”

“I don’t know what happened, (he) didn’t cross it the way I thought you were supposed to,” said Kansas native Bowyer, who had to settle for second place on his homestate track.

“I know they’re not going to pull him out of Victory Lane.”

Even Johnson who finished third, said Biffle wasn’t the winner.

“The biggest question mark right now is what goes on with (Biffle),” he said. “He clearly ran out of gas and I feel terrible for those guys. But if you can’t maintain pace car speed, then the guys that can finished ahead of you.”

NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston cleared the confusion by announcing that Biffle was the winner as the race had ended under caution and passing was not allowed under caution.
