The chase for the Nextel Cup was not quite the ideal that Kurt Busch and his crew chief Pat Tryson must have prayed for.The engine started giving problems early on and would not run on full speed, the afternoon which had previously seemed quite promising quickly turned into a disappointment as even after dropping a lap and regaining it at a free pass, Busch lost it again late in the race finishing 25th place.
“We had a strong car there in the beginning and then had a motor problem,” Busch said. “A later diagnosis left us with a problem with our carburetor. It left us without the power that we needed.” Read more »

In the Craftsman truck series championship duel, on Saturday in loudon N.H, Ron Hornaday was blessed with victory and earned some space for breathingThis was the fourth victory for him of this season and the 33rd victory of his career. Giving no challenges per say, on the 1.058 mile international speedway oval, at New Hampshire, as the series champion for two times was leading in 174 of the 200 laps.

Carl Edwards has a new vigor for the Chase in the competition in the Nextel Cup, and something like a collision in a race early on the pit it road is the last possible thing to keep him from it.Racing ahead with a zest after dropping down to the 38th place, due to the collision with Juan Montoya’s Dodge just 10 laps into the race on the pit road, he finished at a respectable second on the California Speedway in the Sharp Aquos 500

Brad Keselowski, in JR Motosports, has now an injured leg in a crash involving 4 cars in the middle of the California highway, featuring NASCAR’s Busch series race. Keselowski was driving for Dale Earnhardt Jr.
A helicopter took the rookie to the hospital so that any lasting damage can be ruled out and to have a detailed evaluation of the condition. The rookie has already been examined by the infield medical center. Though there is no more information, the track officials were quite positive on a complete recovery.

Kasey Kahne was congratulated by George Gillett Jr, for his achievement of finishing second on Saturday night’s Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Smiles were abundant in the Gillett Evernham Motorsports camp on Saturday night, due to kahne finishing his first top five finish in this season’s 24th race in his Dodge No 9
The first NASCAR race was lucky for the new majority owner of Gillett Evernham Motorsports who was seen sporting a huge grin. It has not even been three weeks that he signed the papers for this deal and this victory just seems welcoming to the new entrants by the name of “sportsman George Gillett.” Read more »

Saturday night’s Nextel cup will witness the debut of Aric Almirola in the No 01 Chevrolet at Bristol.
Mark Martin will be sharinf the No 01 with Almirola, 23, during the campaign of 2008 as well as some selected races this season.

“In less than a week, I went from Joe Gibbs Racing to Ginn Racing to DEI,” Almirola said. “Everything is great and I’m excited to get strapped into the Army Chevy and do battle at Bristol. Kurt Busch, after the much dismaying postponement of the Tuesday NASCAR event at Michigan International Speedway due to the rain, won yet again. This is his second victory in three races so far.After winning the 2004 Cup, this champion further strengthened his place in the 12 man line for the coming event, after defeating Martin Truex Jr in the last laps and won the 17th race of his career.
The weather problems continued to dog the race originally scheduled on Sunday, the rain made sure that the cars could not compete, but on Tuesday, the race was run without further ado after the first 10 laps were completed.

Denny Hamlin ruled in the race against the rain as well as the competition on Saturday and won NASCAR Busch CARFAX 250 at Michigan International Speedway.Driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo Hamlin easily overtook Matt Kenseth’s Ford Fusion and reached the finish line to win by a margin of 6.998-seconds.the third position was taken by Kevin Harvick, who has been on hot wheels the past few weeks, he was tagged by Richard Childress Racing teammate Jeff Burton.
Earning a hefty $52,750 credited to the race, it was his 2nd official win of the season. Read more »
